History[]

Daily Bugle[]

Billy Goldstein was one of the Daily Bugle's worst reporters it had ever had. Their chief and publisher, Frederick Foswell, only hired him because he was his nephew-in-law and he was greatly in need of a job. That didn't mean he treated Billy any better than the other employees, and he certainly didn't favor him.

Everybody was constantly wondering why Billy hadn't yet been fired, which made it hard for him to get along with his co-workers.

Scoop of a Life Time[]

Eventually, Billy was the first person to hear about something that would make for a great story. He discovered that Richard Fisk, the new Kingpin, is setting up his headquarters in an abandoned chemical plant. Of course, this was only a hunch, but Billy had to take the risk. He ventured to the chemical plant, and, sure enough, Fisk and his men were setting up base. Billy had to know more.

Getting Too Involved[]

For the next couple of days, Billy hid out in the chemical plant, taking notes on what Fisk did, but eventually, his clumsiness got the better of him. When trying to sneak around to get a better angle, he tripped on a bucket of radioactive waste, and of course, everyone noticed it. Billy was knocked out and he soon woke up, his face inches away from a vat of toxins that would surely kill him. Richard said he wouldn't even bother asking questions, and that he was just going to kill him, so his men dropped Billy into the vat, but he did not die.

Revenge[]

Trivia[]

  • Radioactive Man's former identity of Billy Goldstein was inspired by Clark Kent, secret identity of the DC hero Superman. He takes the certain elements such as being big, but nerdy. He is extremely clumsy and occasionally late for work, and he is a reporter for his local newspaper.
