Victor was raised in a loving community. However, he was outcast upon coming out as homosexual. He lives on the streets for several months before Charles Xavier found him. Charles took him in, and nurtured the 13 year old. It was soon learnt that Victor was a mutant. His skin turned green and his hair fell out. He joined the X-Men, but quit after a while, wanting to focus on his studies.
When Franklin Richards, a clone child from a possible future, travelled back in time to try and stop his timeline ever happening, Victor was one of the Mutants who received the psychic message. He met with the others on the lawn of Worthington Manor, where the message had told them to go, and formed X-Force, a more forceful take on the Mutant dream.
In one of their first missions against Senator Kelly and his Mutant Response Division (MRD), Victor was attacked by a soldier, and his arm was blasted off by an explosion. Unfortunately for the MRD, his arm grew back larger and stronger than before, and he took them out easily.
