History

Childhood

As a child, Bobby was abused by his father, who threatened to kill him, should he ever get out of line. Bobby had learned to brush it off and he convinced himself that he was just bluffing and he wouldn't actually do it. It wasn't long until his father just up and left them completely.

Mutant

After his father left, his mother strove to love him and make up for the years of torture he had endured. His mutant powers activated very early, earlier than most mutants. He decided to hide his powers, out of the fear his mother would reject him. Due to his inability to make friends, he would spend his days amusing himself with his powers. Eventually, Bobby met a rich kid named Warren Worthington, who saw him using his powers. He thought it was awesome and decided to use Bobby to his advantage. Warren manipulated Bobby into helping him commit felonies. When Warren wanted Bobby to freeze the school principal, he refused and reported Warren to the police.

Orphaned

He came home one day to find his mother had died of a drug overdose. He was taken to an orphanage where he befriended another orphan named Halle. She encouraged him to use his mutant powers for good, so he decided to create a heroic persona of Iceman. It wasn't long until his activities caught the attention of Charles Xavier, who asked Bobby to join a group of X-Men, to which he immediately agreed.
