The Land of Waves is a small nation located at the second island east of the Land of Water, in the South Sea, near the Land of Fire. Small and weak compared to other nations, the Land of Waves had no hidden village of its own, and instead relied on aid from other villages, such as Konohagakure.
History[]
While the Land of Waves was isolated and relied on commerce and trade with neighbor islands and nations, it became mildly prosperous duo to their exportation of natural goods. However, the crime lord Gato eventually rose to become the de facto leader of the nation after monopolizing the island's shipping industry.
Hoping to end the monopoly, the architect Tazuna sought to construct the massive Silk Road Bridge and connect the island with the mainland. Tazuna's plea for Konohagakure turned into the first mission of Team 7, originally a simple bodyguard task to protect Tazuna, but that ended up becoming a dangerous affair with the involvement of missing-nin Zabuza Momochi and his apprentice, Haku.
Later, with the aid of a dying Zabuza, the Land of Waves was able to end Gato's reign of terror and finish the bridge. The connection between the Land of Waves and the Land of Fire boomed the island's economy by bringing revenue to the nation.
