- I was never a villain, unlike pretty much everyone else on my team. But they're heroes now. They fight the good fight because the Avengers won't do that responsibly. We're working with S.H.I.E.L.D., and even our leader has managed to get on the world's good side. It's things like these that help me sleep at night. It's things like these that help me say "Dark Avengers Assemble!!"
Jonathan Walker is the son of War Veteran, Caleb Walker. Caleb was determined to turn John into the same man as him. He made John go on very strict diets and exercise constantly. When he wasn't busy improving himself, he was busy reading Captain America comics, not for fun, but to learn how to mimic Captain America's fighting style. John never had time to make real friends, but he was very much respected by his peers.
After graduating High School, John went right ahead and joined the army. He expected respect because of his father's history, but got no such thing. In fact, the generals opted to take it even harder on him, under the impression that he could handle it, which he could. They made him better, and he eventually became one of their best men. It wasn't long until he was made into a Captain, and some of the sergeants jokingly called him Captain America, which he found offensive, and anyone who called him that would get their jaw broken.
Return of Captain America
When word got out that Captain America had been thawed out of suspended animation by a Stark Industries recovery boat, John was enraged. He had believed Captain America to be dead, and he wished it had stayed that way. The sergeants began making fun of John again, and this time it wasn't just the jaw that he would break. He asked if he could leave the premises to confront Captain America, but he told to remain at base, and he reluctantly followed orders.
