- My life was a living hell. But you helped me through it. You raised me, you taught me how to control my powers. And when I was ready, you had me join the X-Men. Then a few years later, things started getting worse. I saw you die right in front of me. We opened up a portal from this dimension in order for us to escape, but only I was able to make it through. But then Apocalypse found a way through. He wants to kill you again, but I'm not going to let that happen.
Jean was born to the mutant revolutionist, Charles Xavier and a simple mutant slave he had freed from Apocalypse's slave camps. Charles was unaware he had a daughter, and he left Death Territory, where his daughter remained. She was named Jean and was kept in the slave camps and forced to use her telekinetic abilities to assist in building new weapons for Apocalypse's army. Eventually when her telepathy was developed, she made psychic contact with her father and he began trekking back to Death Territory to save her, and many others.
Charles and his mutant team he called the X-Men broke into the slave camp Jean was being held in. While the X-Men took care of Apocalypse's forces, Charles found and freed Jean. During the escape, Jean was nearly killed by Death's army, but she used her telepathic abilities to shut down the minds of everyone in the army, which proved she had the potential to be even more powerful than her father.
After years of fighting alongside the X-Men, Jean's powers had evolved into something never known to mankind in the past. She was almost capable of defeating Apocalypse on her own, but he still proved to much for her. Charles came up with a plan to send Jean into an alternate reality to save her. They were capable of building the portal device and they sent Jean through, however, she saw Apocalypse murdering her father seconds before she was tossed into the next dimension, and Apocalypse destroyed the machine, assuring Jean that the X-Men would soon all be dead.
