Long ago when I lived in these mountains, I was almost completely an animal. The only evils were hunger and sickness. The pack wanted to kill you because you were weak. You no longer contributed. But the humans chasing me wanted to kill me because somebody was paying them. Which is worse? I'd rather be an animal.

James "Jimmy" Howlett was a veteran Canadian World War II soldier who served alongside Captain America and the Howling Commandos in their fight against the Axis and HYDRA. As a child, James would accidentally kill his biological father, John Logan , and then adopt his surname of Logan as an alias which he would use for the rest of his life. After the war ended and Captain America seemingly died in 1945, Logan sought a peaceful life in the Alaskan north, only to be kidnapped by Professor Truett Hudson and his Weapon X Program in order to be used as one of their many test subjects with the codename of Wolverine, where he was experimented with Vibranium, acquiring numerous superhuman powers. Serving the organization for years, Logan escaped his brainwashing and started to use of his powews and identity as the Wolverine to help others and uncover his past.
