Gamora was the princess of Zen-Whoeberi and she loved being pampered and admired and adored. She also enjoyed giving and being one of the people. Her parents were against her going to school, sense she could easily be taught by their servants. She didn't believe putting others beneath her, so she attended school like a normal child, which put her in the favor of the people.
When Gamora was a little older, Zen-Whoeberi was visited by the titan Thanos and his ginormous ship and army. After gaining the people's trust, Thanos had the planet annihilated, believing everyone had died. However, Gamora alone remained. Thanos approached her, getting her to believe it was all an accident. He adopted her, planning on raising her to become his heir.
Gamora was trained how to fight and how to hate everyone who crossed her. She eventually became a shining image of what Thanos loved. A being of pure hate. She was eventually promoted to General of his army and she annihilated pure planets, just as he had. She even had an encounter with Galactus, in which she came out victorious.
When she discovered Thanos had gained a slave Celestial named Adam Warlock, she began rethinking her past decisions. She started thinking that what her father was doing is wrong. She even found out that what happened to her planet was not an accident, that he in fact caused it to happen. After learning this, she contacted the team, the Guardians of the Galaxy.
Guardians of the Galaxy
When the Guardians secretly arrived at Thanos's ship, Gamora told them everything, and she was offered a spot on the team. She accepted the offer and assisted the heroes in fighting her own father, and even freeing Adam Warlock from his control. After he was defeated, he swore revenge on all of them, and he cursed Gamora's existence, but she just brushed it off, feeling glad that she is finally leaving him.
