Quote1 I suppose that's enough talk of the past. We should start discussing what comes next, yes? For despite all our interesting elemental powers we may have, I expect that our best weapon is our minds. Quote2
Gali

Gali was the Toa of Water on the island of Mata Nui. Later, after exposure to Energized Protodermis, she was transformed into the Toa Nuva of Water.

History[]

The history of Gali prior to 2553 is the same as her mainstream counterpart.

Personality & Traits[]

Gali is a patient and compassionate Toa, but she is not without an edge. She is extremely wise, and she recognizes the importance of the Three Virtues and how they affect her team.

When faced with even the toughest challenges, Gali strives to achieve her goals peacefully while embodying reason. She has no qualms with using her all of her powers to defend her people. Experience has taught Gali that some situations can only be resolved with overwhelming offensive force, but this realization has not brought her peace. She foresaw all-out war with the Brotherhood of Makuta in Karda Nui and dreaded it in part because neither side could afford to show mercy.

Gali has always been well attuned to others' moods. Indeed, Onua once mused that sometimes Gali practically reads others' thoughts. Since she is surrounded by teammates with strong personalities, the Toa of Water tends to play a moderating role. She often defuses conflicts between between Tahu and Kopaka. Her presence does not go unappreciated. Tahu is especially protective of Gali, and even if he does not show it, steely Kopaka considers the Toa of Water his friend. Despite trying to be the peacemaker, Gali has at times grown frustrated with her teammates. She has lashed out herself to quell their infighting, and she held a grudge against them when they chose to disband.

Gali is deeply connected to the Ga-Matoran that she protects. Of Gali's teammates, only Pohatu is similarly close to his people. Gali is always willing to spend time teaching or learning from her Matoran, and she helps and guides them when not away on missions.

Gali is happiest when in the water.

Powers & Abilities[]

As a Toa of Water, Gali can control the tides, create floods from the tiniest bit of moisture, and summon and disperse tsunamis and rainstorms. She can combine forces with Lewa to unleash a powerful thunderstorm. When Gali became a Toa Nuva, her elemental powers were enhanced and tied to her Nuva Symbol. Gali Nuva can wield Kanohi Nuva and set up elemental processes that take effect after a delay of her choosing. Gali knows that the Toa Nuva's greater powers require a greater sense of responsibility, and she attempted to convey this to her brother Toa. She had to exercise particular restraint in Karda Nui when manipulating the mutagenic Swamp of Secrets.

Gali is a skilled diver, and she can swim faster than any known creature. Gali is attuned to the natural world and can sense the the flow of waves, rivers, and streams. She can identify those natural disturbances that herald trouble.

Equipment[]

As a Toa Mata, Gali wore a Great Kanohi Kaukau as her primary mask. This mask allowed her to breathe underwater. Gali also collected five other Great Kanohi - a Hau, a Miru, a Kakama, a Pakari, and an Akaku - that she stored in Ga-Suva so she could don them remotely. She traded these six masks for a Golden Kanohi shortly before her first confrontation with Teridax. Her Toa Tools were a pair of Hooks, enabling her to grip onto slippery surfaces. These tools were separate from her actual hands.

When Gali transformed into a Toa Nuva, her hooks transformed into twin Aqua Axes that doubled as swimming fins so that she could swim even faster. The Aqua Axes featured Mizuni Rotors, which attached to Gali's wrists. She also acquired a Kaukau Nuva, the Kanohi Nuva Mask of Water Breathing. This mask was stronger than a standard Great Kaukau, and it let Gali share its powers with others nearby. When she gained this mask, Gali lost her Golden Kanohi and with it access to the powers of the Great Masks she had collected. She was thus forced to collect the five corresponding Kanohi Nuva to regain these powers. She kept these masks on her Suva in Metru Nui.

Shortly before the Toa Nuva traveled to Karda Nui, Artakha gave Gali a set of Adaptive Armor and a single adaptive weapon. In its swamp-adapted form, her tool took the form of a Nynrah Ghost Blaster equipped with a laser sight. She also bears an adaptive Kaukau Nuva that can shift in shape with the rest of her armor. While Gali was in Karda Nui, the location's dome prevented her from summoning her other Kanohi Nuva from Metru Nui.

Trivia[]

  • Gali was the first known Toa of Water to have a non-symmetrical Kanohi mask.
  • Gali was the only known Toa Nuva to have used a Nova Blast. However, she destroyed the entire realm of Karzahni in the process.
  • On Mata Nui, Gali once summoned a storm that injured a number of Waikiru. Afterward the Toa of Water placed the species under her protection.
