The Enigma of Combination is one of the artifacts of the Thirteen that was originally possessed by Nexus Prime. It gives its user the ability to combine with other Cybertronians.
History[]
The Enigma was a relic that facilitated combined forms between two or more Cybertronians. It was originally possessed by Nexus Prime, who was given the Enigma by Solus Prime for their fond relationship. During the War of the Primes, many opposing forces attempted to steal the Enigma and use to create their own combiners. When the era of the Thirteen ended, the Enigma was kept safe in the hands of Alpha Trion, where it would be hidden to the point of being considered a myth by modern Cybertronians.
Megatron, who heard of the Enigma and its capabilities, held a strong belief that it was real and orchestrated an attempt to successfully steal it from Trion's hands. He appointed Shockwave to test its abilities and have a group of Decepticons exposed to the Enigma to become combiners. The Constructicons were the first to be turned into combiners and were considered "prototypes"; they successfully combined into Devastator, thus they became the first Decepticon combiners. With this success, they were able to create other combiners such as Bruticus and Predaking.
