- Yeah, me and Gibbons go way back. Our dads were best friends, and so were we when we were kids. But then something happened. I don't know what, but after his parents got divorced, his dad left, and then so did mine. Then my mom moved us to Kansas, but I'm back now, and I'm gonna find out what happened to our dads.
- Andrew Horren
As a kid, Drew was best friends with Derrek Gibbons. Their parents were best friends, so the two of them got to hang out almost 24/7. Their families would have get togethers and barbecues and were pretty much inseparable. However, after Derrek's parents got divorced, his father left and mysteriously disappeared. It wasn't until, for some reason, Drew's father left too.
Within a week, Drew's mother gathered up all of their things and they were on their way far away from New York, and the Gibbons family. They soon arrived in Kansas where they got a new home and his mom attempted to avoid any conversation about why she moved them. When he turned fourteen, she finally explained to him that his father left in an effort to find Derrek's father, but a few weeks later, they got a package containing his father's severed hands, warning them to get out. However, she decided she was done running and they had to get back and find answers. Andrew was excited, but also terrified.
Return to New York
Andrew and his mom moved back into their old home and Andrew reconciled with Drake after all the long years, but he didn't tell him about the threat that his family received. He and Derrek began attending the same school and Drew joined the football team, however, instead of joining the jocks and becoming a jerk, he hung out with Drake and his other new friends, Jaiden and Carl. The four of them became great friends and they managed to keep Drew's mind off of his impending encounter with his father's murderer.
