Annie was a being with the appearance of a little girl created by Clayface so he could be loved. She befriended Nightwing while trying to discover her own ways as an individual.
Biography[]
Creation[]
After Clayface was cast out into the waters of Gotham City after a deadly battle with Batman, his metamorphosis powers quickly started to deteriorate, and he risked dying of succumbing to the waters. He was able to restore after absorbing clay from a nearby power planet.
Using his powers, the Metahuman created a spawn of himself, Annie, whom he chose to make in the form of a girl so he could parent her. However, his idea of parenting was lustful, as he desired to be with her and control her actions. He used her to serve as his scapegoat, with Annie constantly searching in areas for possible GCPD appearance. Tired of doing her creator's work, she left out to discover her identity as an individual.
Meeting Nightwing[]
When Clayface realized his "daughter" was gone, he became desperate and rushed to find her, shapeshifting into an average-looking man. While she ran through Gotham's streets, she was attacked by a gang of criminals, but she was saved with the arrival of Nightwing, who brutally took them down one by one.
This scared her, and Annie ran away in fear that Nightwing could also hurt her. However, he was able to calm her down and explain his role as a vigilante. However, the two of them were stopped by the man whom Clayface shapeshifted into, as he pledged his creation to become one with him again so they could spend the rest of their lives as a family.
Death[]
Nightwing jumped in front of the girl to save her, but he was brutally beaten by Clayface with the Metahuman's superior powers. He was almost killed when Annie decided to sacrifice herself to save her friend, which she did, concluding she couldn't be anything else but a part of Clayface. Heartbroken, the armored vigilante was able to defeat Clayface throwing a Ice Grenade into Clayface, freezing him solid, but Annie was already absorbed back into his body.
Clayface's frozen body was then collected by S.H.I.E.L.D. to be sent to the Cube, but with HYDRA undercover the organization, Agent Jasper Sitwell actually delivered it to black market collector Morgan Edge. Nightwing listed Clayface's crimes, one including murder for Annie.
