Professor Abraham Erskine was a German scientist and scholar who, upon creating the Super Soldier Serum, was forced to use it on Colonel Johann Schmidt, who transformed into Red Skull. Escaping from his home country after the death of his family by the Nazis to the United States, Erskine joined the SSR, where he perfected his serum and used it on Steve Rogers to become Captain America, before being assassinated by Iron Cross and HYDRA.

Abraham Erskine was born in January 22nd, 1869 in Augsburg, Germany. He married with Greta Erskine, and together they had two children, Marlene and Edmund Erskine.
Erskine became famous because for his work in the development of a potential enhancing serum. During the rise of Adolf Hitler on Germany and the creation of the Third Reich, Abraham's intellect was attempted to be used by Hitler, but he refused. This led the Schutzstaffel to imprisoning his family in Switzerland.
Hitler tasked the SS colonel and HYDRA's leader Johann Schmidt to force Erskine to conduct his research and create the first generation of superhumans for Nazi Germany.

However, Schmidt had secret plans; he did not want to obey Hitler, as he had a master plan, alongside all of HYDRA, to bring the apocalypse to the world. After discovering of ancient tales of a mysterious item in Tønsberg, Norway. Johann attempted to use the early, imperfect formula on himself, but it degenerated him, with his skin turning red and him losing his hair.
